Meet two young innovators from Bosnia

Children are able to express themselves more freely than adults, owing to their skills and abilities. This is a story about two boys, successful IT programmers from BiH. Their talent, work, efforts and love are their most valuable resources.

“I have a problem whenever I play my game – since it is my game – to simply play it, because I think it is a way too easy, and then I make it more difficult. Then no one is able to finish it,” said 13-year-old Tarik Lika.

Tarik is currently a 7th grade student and he has been enrolled in ‘School&School’ classes for two years now. He has developed a love for computers, programming and robotics very quickly. He already creates computer games. He is among the youngest ones who owns the Microsoft Technology Associate Certificate.

“Whenever my teacher's computer is broken, they all call me to come and fix it. Sometimes it feels nice but sometimes it gets irritating. There are a few kids who know what it is about and they congratulate me. And others do not really care,” Lika said.

He is special for several reasons. However, he emphasizes – he is a team player. Tarik hopes he will play for a team of a flagship company one day.

“I'd like to work one day in future for a big company, which produces complex computer games. Several hundreds people work on those games and it requires team work. One person alone can do nothing in this industry,” explained Lika.

His friend, Dinel Hamzic, is equally successful. He is a recipient of the Microsoft Technology Associate Certificate as well.

“Combining a love for something and putting effort in that is a very special feeling, and of course a success comes at the end. But love for it is not the only thing. There is one percent of talent in life, and remaining 99 percent are work and effort,” noted Hamzić.

Their IT and programming teacher, Adi Muslic, said two of them sometimes don't even use their breaks in school. All they want to do is programming and sometimes it happens they don't even want to go home. Tarik and Dinel cannot hide their love for computers.

“They started demonstrating strong interest from the very first day. Passion, love, emotions – they have been investing that in work since the very first day. That was noticed,” Muslic added.

Tarik and Dinel make Bosnia and Herzegovina a country that has potential for prosperity and progress. They are already aware of that. They work hard, hoping that one day they will stand next to those who are – for now – far better than us.
