Republika Srpska entity Interior Ministry sold over 10,000 firearms to a buyer who is registered and authorised to repair, service and sell firearms, the RS Interior Ministry confirmed to N1.
According to the Ministry, the said firearms were the left-over firearms from the recent war in Bosnia, which they collected from the RS residents, as well as the firearms collected during criminal and other legal procedures.
Of more than 15,000 firearms collected so far, more than 10,000 firearms were sold.
“The sale of firearms was performed via direct contract, because the functionality of these firearms could not be verified. Therefore, it was estimated that the sale of such firearms could not be carried out through a public sale, thus the sale was made to a customer who was authorized and registered for the repair, servicing and sale of firearms,” RS Interior Ministry told N1.
When asked by N1 who is the said buyer, the Ministry stressed that in accordance with the Law on the Protection of Classified Information, they were unable to provide any information on the details of the contract.
