A 29-year-old Bosnian was arrested in Croatia on Wednesday under the suspicion of being part of a five-person migrant smuggling ring.

The other four suspects are Croatian nationals.

„According to the distribution of roles (within the group), the detained person was tasked with taking over the foreign nationals after they illegally cross the border and drive them to the Zagreb area,” a press release by the Croatian State Prosecutor's Office for the Suppression of Organized Crime and Corruption (USKOK) said.

The group is suspected of smuggling at least 133 foreigners between January 14 and April 13 this year. The plan was allegedly to smuggle the migrants further towards Slovenia.

For 350 Euro per migrant, the group would smuggle the migrants across the Bosnian-Croatian border and drive them to Zagreb. The members would then drive back to Bosnia to collect the money, USKOK stated.

Prosecutors said the alleged 133 migrants were smuggled throughout 20 such operations, which brought the group a total of at least 46.550 Euro in profit.
