Bosnia’s Security Minister Dragan Mektic met with Russia’s Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev to discuss strengthening of the fight against terrorism, cybersecurity, and fight against illegal migration and human trafficking.
During the meeting in Sochi, the two discussed improvements to bilateral relations between the two countries, pointing out that terrorist threats require a timely exchange of all information, especially the information on the application of new tactics and strategies by radical groups.
Mektic said that Bosnia and Herzegovina remains committed to the joint fight against terrorism and that it will not tolerate this phenomenon. He stressed Bosnia’s previous results in this field which were recognized by its international partners.
During the visit, Mektic also met with the Deputy Interior Minister of Russia Igor Zubov with whom he discussed strengthening of cooperation and exchange of information between the security agencies.
Mektic and Zubov signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between Bosnia’s Security Ministry and the Russian Interior Ministry in the field of labour force migration. In this way, the rights of workers have been additionally protected and improvements were made in the prevention of illegal workforce migration.
