Bosnian citizens trust the media the most (over 76 percent) and the religious institutions (over 72 percent). They least believe the politicians (15 percent) and political parties (over 19 percent), said the “Media liberties in Bosnia, 2018” research, presented by the Secretary General of the Association of Journalists “BH Novinari” Borka Rudic.

Rudic presented the information amid the World Press Freedom Day in Sarajevo and added that compared to the previous research, this year's poll showed that the people’s trust in the media, the international community and the non-governmental organizations has increased.

Most respondents believe that the biggest obstacles to journalists’ independent work are the political obstacles (51 percent), financial dependency (over 26 percent) and that political parties have the biggest influence on the work of the media (over 75 percent).

Rudic said that over 93 percent of respondents believe that attacks on journalists are unacceptable, while nearly 7 percent feel attacks on journalists are justified in some cases.

The results also show that the key sources of information for the citizens of Bosnia are the TV (64 percent) and the internet (almost 35 percent).
