The British daily The Guardian listed Bosnia among the countries with “one of the world's wildest and most beautiful scenery” enjoyed from a train window.
In an article titled “18 of the world's best rail journeys”, The Guardian said the rail line between the Bosnian capital Sarajevo and the southernmost city of Mostar let the travellers enjoy the rugged scenery, especially along the Neretva river.
“While the road sticks to the valley, the train climbs over the mountains, with viaducts, switchbacks and tunnels,” described the article.
Sarajevo recently got connected by train with the north-western city Banja Luka and there are ongoing plans to renew the part of the railway to the western town Bihac, situated on Bosnia's border with Croatia.
