The visit of Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Sarajevo is a working visit, which will focus on the topics of trade, economy and other subjects referring to investments and development of Bosnia and Turkey, said Turkish Ambassador to Bosnia Haldun Koc on Monday.
Turkish media reported earlier this month that Erdogan would pay a visit to Sarajevo, where he would also hold an election rally for Turkish citizens, ahead of the upcoming election in his country.
Contrary to the media reports, Koc said there was no need to attribute any other significance to this visit, adding that the preparations for the visit were among regular activities and that assessing its nature any other way would be unnecessary.
Speaking for Fena news agency, the ambassador emphasized that the meetings planned within the visit would discuss political, economic, regional and trade cooperation. He recalled that the visit was earlier announced for June but it was then rescheduled for May 20.
“Let’s see this visit as a strong incentive for potential investors to come to Bosnia,” said Koc, adding that despite elections taking place in both countries this year, more room should be given to mutual support instead of political manipulations.
Turkish President’s visit to Bosnia should be seen as an important step towards the further development of relations between Bosnia and Turkey, the ambassador concluded.
