Bosnian prosecutors have filed charges against eight Bosnians who are allegedly behind a human trafficking ring that involved women and minors being forced to steal on the streets of Paris and other French cities, netting the group 5,8 million BAM.
“With threats to their lives and security, the victims were forced to commit daily crimes continuously, while the suspects received the profits acquired through the criminal acts in France,” which they “spent in Bosnia and Herzegovina on luxury cars, property, illegal drugs,” prosecutors said.
The group allegedly operated between 2012 and 2015, searching for women and children in Bosnia and then illegally transporting them to France.
The investigation allegedly showed that the suspects managed to bribe officials in order to illegally acquire travel documents for the victims. The investigation involves a servant working in Bosnia’s embassy in France as well, prosecutors said.
