Bosnia's Council of Ministers (CoM) has ordered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to send a note to neighbouring Montenegro and Serbia, urging the countries to stop rerouting migrants toward Bosnia.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina is being tasked with sending a note to Montenegro and the Republic of Serbia asking the countries to stop their activities of redirecting waves of migrants toward Bosnia and Herzegovina,” a Wednesday CoM statement says.

In accordance with the relevant laws, Bosnia and Herzegovina will implement all necessary measures to stop illegal entry into its territory, the CoM said.

The CoM has been informed of a proposal for an action plan for urgent measures that need to be taken regarding the massive surge of migrants entering Bosnia and regarding the situation at the borders, mainly the one with Bosnia's neighbouring countries in the east. The necessary financial resources for this plan, including those coming from domestic and foreign donations, are to be defined and presented at a later occasion.

The CoM also said it ordered the Foreign Affairs Ministry to send neighbouring Croatia and the relevant EU institutions a request for an urgent meeting to discuss better coordination and solutions regarding the transit of the migrants through Bosnia.

Bosnia's Ministers of Security and Human Rights and Refugees were tasked with meeting with their colleagues in Croatia, Montenegro and Serbia to discuss the issue, while all relevant institutional bodies in the country were ordered to organise transport and accommodation for all migrants who are currently without adequate accommodation, the statement said.
