The Leader of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Nermin Niksic said during the opening of the SDP Convention in Sarajevo, that this party will have its own candidate for the Bosnian tripartite Presidency, adding that this convention marks the “beginning of the end of the rule of nationalists in Bosnia.”

“I congratulate you, honestly, from the bottom of my heart, for showing what the SDP is and that it can do. I congratulate you on the strength we’ve shown and on the successful referendum which no other party in Bosnia and Herzegovina ever dared to conduct,” Niksic said and added that the SDP will have its candidate for the Presidency member.

The SDP had conducted an inter-party referendum on whether this party should have its own candidate for Bosnia’s Presidency and who it should be. The referendum was held Thursday to Saturday.

Niksic called the SDP the strongest party in the country, adding that the SDP has returned stronger than ever.

“The SDP is a complex machine which is not easy to lead but leading it was totally worth it,” Niksic concluded.
