The people want change, as the situation in Bosnia’s Serb-dominated entity is alarming, Presidential candidate for Republika Srpska (RS), Vukota Govedarica, told N1.

Govedarica is the leader of the Serb Democratic Party (SDS), which has on Monday signed an agreement with a number of parties active in Bosnia’s semi-autonomous RS entity to continue the Alliance for Changes, a coalition standing in opposition to the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) political party which is in power in the RS currently.

“We are united in our intentions to decisively enter this election, we have managed to create a united political front. And, of course, we are entering the election with our ideas and our programme and we will offer citizens options on how and in what ways we think the situation in Republika Srpska can be incomparably better,” Govedarica said.

Govedarica said the goal was to create employment opportunities and keep RS citizens from leaving the country.

“The RS was created for people to live there, to have stable institutions, a population on its territory and its own government. I think the RS is in a difficult situation in regard to institutional corruption,” he said.

The Presidency candidate is advocating the adoption of a law on investigating the origins of property.

“I will sign a document and reveal my property and the property of my close and extended family to the RS public. If it turns out my property exceeds my earnings, I will sign a resignation which will in this case automatically come into force and be irrevocable,” he said.

“I am certain I will become the President of Republika Srpska,” Govedarica said.
