Serbian journalist Stefan Cvetkovic was reported missing in the Vojvodina town of Bela Crkva on the night of June 13-14, the Beta news agency said quoting several sources in that town.
A police statement said his car was found parked with the doors open and lights on, adding that a search was underway.
The Beta news agency said the car engine was still running and added that witnesses confirmed that his watch was found with the bracelet broken next to the car. His mobile phones were turned off, the agency said.
Cvetkovic reported that he had received threats from politicians and tycoons over the past few years.
The Independent Journalists’ Association of Serbia (NUNS) and Independent Society of Journalists of Vojvodina (NDNV) called the police to launch the most intensive possible search for Cvetkovic. A joint statement recalled that the missing journalist reported a number of threats from political and criminal circles.
