Dozens of doctors in the town of Zivinice, who last week threatened to collectively quit their jobs if their rights and obligations are not defined by a contract with the local government, said on Friday they will go back to work after their demands were fulfilled.
In an urgent session, the Government of the Tuzla Canton, where Zivinice is located, decided the doctors and dentists will sign their own collective contract.
According to Bosnia’s laws, apart from the Labour Law, the rights of workers are protected and regulated by collective contracts made between their professional unions and the government.
The doctors complained that they are underrepresented in the union of health workers and said they want their own union and their own collective contract.
