Following the event amid the 25th anniversary of the Veterans’ Association of the Republika Srpska entity (BORS) the RS President Milorad Dodik said he did not contact the British Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina concerning the announcements that Great Britain will send 40 soldiers to observe the regularity of the general election in Bosnia.
“I don’t think there’s anything special he could say because he already attempted to hide the British intent which they publicly expressed days earlier. I would like to ask your television to make a story about the fact that the British Government approved some GBP nine million (around EUR 10.2 million) for programs aimed at preventing some allegedly ‘malign’ Russian influence,” Dodik told N1.
“Look, very few people believe that the arrival of the so-called soldiers, who are actually special operatives, will be in function of an honest and fair election. They are coming here because they are desperate to turn Bosnia into a centralised state and they are coming to create an election which would produce a structure that would implement this plan. Of course, I believe they will fail in this,” he added.
The British daily Times announced recently that 40 British soldiers are coming to Bosnia to prevent Russia's influence on Bosnia’s general election which will take place on October 7, 2018.
After numerous reactions from the RS, the European Union Force Althea (EUFOR Althea), a military deployment in Bosnia and Herzegovina which oversees the military implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement that ended the war in Bosnia, published a statement in which they said that they are working closely with Bosnian authorities and law enforcement agencies in order to maintain a safe and stable environment in Bosnia, creating a better atmosphere for peace and stability.
“The United Kingdom agreed to deploy a small reconnaissance unit that will be fully integrated with EUFOR’s command line to assist the commander in carrying out the mission to ensure a safe and stable environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” EUFOR said.
