Court finds Bosnian guilty of attempting to join ISIS

Tužilaštvo BiH

Bosnia’s State Court on Monday found that Amir Haskic is guilty of having tried to join the Islamic State forces but decided not to punish him because he changed his mind before leaving Bosnia.

Haskic established contact with ISIS members in Syria during the second half of 2017 via Facebook and the Viber and Telegram instant messaging applications.

The messages they exchanged show that he was ready to depart for Syria and that he was gathering the required funds for the trip. According to the messages, Haskic would “burn his Bosnian passport” when he arrives in Syria to join the ongoing battles there.

He changed his mind before leaving Bosnia, the Court said.
