The Bosniak member of Bosnia’s tripartite Presidency, Bakir Izetbegovic, attended the inauguration of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara on Monday.

Erdogan will serve this mandate in a presidential government system, after his successful constitutional referendum which saw the country shift from a parliamentary system. The 2017 referendum strongly increased his presidential powers.

Erdogan won the June 24 election with 26,331 million votes.

His inauguration was attended by 22 presidents, 28 prime ministers and parliament chairmans.

Of the regional heads of state, Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic, Macedonia’s Gjorge Ivanov and Kosovo’s Hashim Thaci took part in the ceremony.

Erdogan held an election rally in Sarajevo for the Turkish diaspora in Europe in May after several European countries banned him from organising such gatherings on their territory.
