Bosnia gets EUR 275 million at the London Summit

Bosnia proposed three projects, at the London Summit, worth EUR 275 million and all three projects gained the support of the European Commission who also granted two grants worth EUR 43 million. The projects are two sections of the Corridor 5C worth EUR 150 million and a technical assistance project on the Corridor worth EUR 125 million.

Bosnia and Herzegovina's Council of Ministers Chairman Denis Zvizdic participated in the London Summit of prime ministers of the Western Balkans (WB6+EU8), held within the Berlin process, which is an initiative to boost regional cooperation among the Western Balkan countries and their European integration.

Speaking about the economy, Zvizdic thanked the hosts and British Prime Minister Theresa May, saying that this year’s summit was a message that the cooperation and strengthening of economic, social and cultural ties between the Western Balkans and the UK will continue after Brexit.

He pointed out that 2018 was an exceptionally good year for the entire region in the contest of placing the topic of EU enlargement on top of the EU priorities’ list.

Zvizdic added that the key issue of region is its transition into digital economy and welcomed the initiation of the Digital Agenda for the Western Balkans whose aim is to support the transition of the region and to bring advantages of the digital transformation to citizens of the Western Ballkans.

He noted that Bosnia is commited to being part of the solution and that it wants the doors of the past to close, and the rhethoric from the early 90s to finally end.

Chairman Zvizdic also stressed the need for the region to turn to further strengthening of neighbourly relations, fostering dialogue and improvement of economic ties in order to build a better and more prosperous future.

During the Summit, Zvizdic signed four joint declarations of the member states of the Berlin process. He signed the Declaration on War Crimes, Declaration on the Missing Persons, Declaration on Regional Relations and cooperation, and a Statement on the of fight against corruption.
