A coalition of Bosnian Croat parties will be challenging the Croat Democratic Union (HDZ) at the October election in Bosnia and says it wants to offer an alternative to the HDZ policy which has not solved the problems of its constituents for two decades.

“Twelve political actors have here gathered today with the idea to change the bad representation of Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said President of one of the coalition parties, HDZ-1990, Ilija Cvitanovic, after a meeting of the parties on Wednesday.

The twelve parties want to offer Bosnian Croats a chance to change a policy that for 20 years has not solved any of their problems, he said.  

The idea is to “present more nationally responsible, fair and more transparent politics in representing Croats in Bosnia,” he said.  

HDZ-90's Diana Zelenika is the candidate proposed by the coalition running for the State Presidency in the October general election and will be challenging the incumbent HDZ leader, Dragan Covic.

She “is the most legitimate candidate and has the widest support for the post of the Croat member of Bosnia's Presidency, and as such she will be elected on October 7, 2018,” Cvitanovic said.

Bosnia's Presidency consists of three members, each representing one of the three main groups in the country – Bosniaks, Croats and Serbs.
