Bihac residents are preparing to exit the streets because of the migrant crisis that has struck this northern town in Bosnia. The protest called "Why Bihac" was scheduled for August 13, at the town square. The Republika Srpska entity Minister Dragan Lukac said that Bosnia's Security Ministry has completely failed to control the situation.

“These protests aren’t directed against the migrants. We don’t want to send hateful or xenophobic messages. The protests are directed against the dysfunctional state authorities. There is still 3,000-4,000 migrants here. Most of them are illegals,” Bihac Mayor Suhret Fazlinovic said. “I’m afraid no one knows their exact data, their true names and who they really are. Everyone is still expecting the local community to resolve this issue. It’s not right that a state and European issue like this one is being forced upon us.”

More than 9,800 migrants were treated by Bosnia's Foreigners’ Affairs Service from the beginning of 2018 until July 31. According to the law, migrants must express their wish for an asylum in order to stay in Bosnia legally, which was done by more than 8,000 migrants so far. Still, no migrant received the asylum which means that Bosnia is not their final destination.
