Kosovo's Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj said on Friday Pristina was prepared to respond to any provocations, though he did not have indications that something might happen, the Beta news agency reported.

He spoke after the National Security Council meeting in Pristina, adding he demanded the increase in combat readiness in case of any disorder.

“Everything is calm. Everyone should feel safe,” he said.

However, the media in Pristina reported that there were rumours that the Serbs in the north would declare autonomy if the Community of Serb Municipalities (CSM) was not formed on Saturday as agreed with the European Union.

Haradinaj’s statement coincided with Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic calling the meeting of his National Security Council for Saturday and sent an open letter to the Kosovo Serbs, asking them to remain calm and promising protection by peaceful means.

Reacting to different statements, the NATO-led KFOR reported that the situation in Kosovo was calm.
