The ceremony to mark the 73rd anniversary of the nuclear bomb attack on the Japanese city of Hiroshima, the first ever such attack in history, was held on Monday, the Beta news agency reported.
An estimated 50.000 people attended the ceremony, both people from Hiroshima and the representatives of the 58 countries, including the American ambassador to Tokyo William Hagerty.
The officials remembered the killed and injured and called for eliminating of nuclear weapons.
The sky was as clear as it had bee on August 6, 1945, when, at 08:15 local time the American bomber B-29 Enola Gay dropped the nuclear bomb known as ‘Little Boy’ from the altitude of 9.600 meters. It exploded 43 seconds later, 600 meters above the ground. On that day and a few weeks after an estimated 140.000 people died.
