The EU remains committed to Bosnia and Herzegovina's European perspective, the EU Foreign Affairs High Representative Federica Mogherini’s Cabinet told N1 in response to N1's question about the recent talks of connections between the “Kosovo issue” and Bosnia.
In the past couple of week, numerous media outlets from the region published stories of a possible solution to the “Kosovo issue” which could allegedly be reached very soon. Responding to these stories, more and more analysts and high officials, mostly from the Serb-dominated, semi-autonomous, Republika Srpska (RS) entity, claimed that this opens the doors to the secession of the RS and its later accession to Serbia.
N1 reached out to Federica Mogherini’s Cabinet for their statement on this issue:
“The EU position is very clear and was last stated in June when the Council reiterated its unequivocal commitment to Bosnia and Herzegovina's EU perspective as a single, united and sovereign country and encouraged all authorities and political forces in Bosnia and Herzegovina to overcome divisive rhetoric rooted in the past, to end the glorification of convicted war criminals as well as to actively promote reconciliation, including through education,” the Cabinet said.
“The Council encouraged Bosnia and Herzegovina to further actively engage in regional cooperation and building of neighbourly relations,” Federica Mogherini’s Cabinet told N1.
