Bosnia’s Serb-dominated, semi-autonomous entity Republika Srpska recorded a foreign trade deficit of BAM 884.3 million (around EUR 442 million) during the first 7 months of 2018.
According to entity Statistics Agency, the entity’s total foreign trade amounted to BAM 5.229 billion (around EUR 2.6 billion).
Exported goods amounted to 2.172 billion (around EUR 1.110 billion) representing a 12 percent increase over the same period last year, while the imported goods into the RS amounted to BAM 3.57 billion (around EUR 1.82 billion).
The RS import-export coverage was 71.1 percent.
From January to July 2018, the RS mostly exported to Italy (BAM 335 million, or EUR 171 million) and Croatia (BAM 284 million, or EUR 142 million). During the same period, the RS mostly imported goods from Russia (BAM 493 million, or EUR 252 million) and Serbia (BAM 485 million, or EUR 247 million).
Observed by product groups, the largest export share comes from electricity, which was worth BAM 175 million (EUR 89 million), and amounts to 8.1 percent of total exports, while the largest share of imports comes from petroleum and oil obtained from bituminous minerals with a total value of BAM 450 million (around EUR 230 million), and represents 14.7 percent of total imports.
