Over 30,000 workers from Bosnia and Herzegovina have found employment in Germany and Slovenia since 2013, according to the Bosnia’s Labour and Employment Agency.
The agreements Bosnia signed with Germany and Slovenia enabled the Bosnia’s nationals to find a job in the two countries. The whole procedure is carried out under the supervision of the Labour and Employment Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“4,159 workers from Bosnia and Herzegovina have been employed in Germany since 2013, when the agreement was signed, until August 14 this year,” Agency Director Muamer Bandic said pointing out that 99% of them are still working in that country.
Only this year, 607 Bosnia’s nationals left to Germany for the employment, according to Bandic.
A significantly higher number found jobs in Slovenia. From 2013 until June 30, 2018, nearly 27,000 workers from Bosnia were hired by Slovenia’s employers.
“Some 24,000 of our workers currently works in Slovenia,” said Bandic adding that welders and drivers are in the highest demand.
The hiring procedure with both Germany and Slovenia is carried out through the Labour and Employment Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The employers first contact employment bureaus in their respective countries, which then reach Bosnia’s agency on the grounds of the international agreements that Bosnia signed with Germany and Slovenia.
Besides these two, Bosnia and Herzegovina might also reach similar arrangements with Austria and Qatar.
“As for Qatar, the final stage of the operative protocol is in the procedure and once ti is adopted it will make the implementation of existing agreement possible. As for Austria, we still haven’t received a specific proposal although we have had some talks and they expressed the need for the labour force and said they would give a proposal of an agreement,” said Bandic.
