Bosnia's Security Minister, Dragan Mektic, assessed the request for his removal as “politicking” and said he expected serious political parties would not support that request.
Bosnia's House of Representatives (HoR) is set to convene on Tuesday and discuss the security minister's dismissal, at the request ofby the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) and the Democratic People's Party (DNS), the political opponents of Mektic's Serb Democratic Party (SDS).
Speaking for N1, the minister said serious political parties would not accept such “show” because it had no purpose now at the end of the term, right before the election.
“Serious political parties will not accept this show because it is not aimed at the solving of a problem. The initiative would make some sense during the term, to change something, to try to improve the work. This initiative mostly derogates, underestimates and diminishes the image of the Parliament as a top legislative body, whose main role is to deal with legislative activity,” Mektic underlined.
HoR Collegium held a session on Monday with the initiative for the minister's dismissal on its agenda. SNSD's Stasa Kosarac said, explaining the initiative, that Mektic's role is detrimental to the security in the country and to the image of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
