Bosnia's Republika Srpska (RS) entity representatives requested that Croatia recognises the diplomas from RS universities that are not registered with the State Register of Accredited Higher Education Institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina managed by Bosnia’s Agency for the Development of Higher Education and Quality Assurance.
This issue was discussed during the recent meeting between the Assistant RS Minister for Higher Education Radmila Pejic and Secretary of the Commission for Information and Recognition of Documents in the field of higher education Jelena Starcevic, in Zagreb.
Discussions about the recognition of university diplomas from the RS were initiated by the competent entity Agency for Accreditation of Higher Education Institutions.
“The RS Agency representatives told their Croatian counterparts that Bosnian State Register doesn’t represent an up-to-date record of accredited higher education institutions in the country, because Bosnia’s Agency for the Development of Higher Education and Quality Assurance refuses to register some higher education institutions that received the RS Accreditation Agency’s permit,” said the Education Ministry of this semi-autonomous entity.
The RS Delegation insisted that Bosnia’s Register cannot be a precondition for the recognition of diplomas because Bosnia’s Agency for the Development Higher Education and Quality Assurance is not an ENIC/NARIC centre (European Network of Information Centre/National Academic Recognition Information Centre), which is the only authority to provide information on accreditation of higher educational institutions in the country.
