Bosnia’s Foreign Trade Ministry and the state Veterinary Office requested that the European Commission sends a Health and Food Safety Directorate mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina to approve red meat exports from Bosnia to the EU market.
EU’s Health and Food Safety inspectors have previously visited Bosnia and made sure that all the conditions were met for Bosnian producers to get the approval to export fish, dairy, honey, poultry, fruit and vegetable products to the EU and soon they could approve Bosnia’s red meat exports.
“Considering the previous results, as well as the strong interest of our cattle, sheep and goat meat producers for export to the EU market, we would like to invite you to come and carry out an inspection, in order to approve the export of meat from Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said the Foreign Trade Ministry.
Previously, the EU Commission approved the so called Residual Monitoring Plan for Bosnia’s “red meat” and the competent state institutions have implemented numerous activities aimed at improving the official control system in the fields of animal health and production of food of animal oriin.
“This is an important moment for our farmers and the economy in general because our request to the EU Health and Food Safety Directorate means we implemented all the necessary procedures and that our system has made significant progress,” the Ministry added.
