The “Justice for David” group gathered around the Banjaluka Police Station, Tuesday night, demanding that the perpetrators of David Dragicevic's alleged murder be brought to justice.
The late David’s father, Davor Dragicevic, called on Banjaluka citizens to join him in his protest and called on the police to bring the perpetrators to them.
“Tonight, at the Krajina square, I received a death threat from one individual. We've had enough, this is the end. We’re staying here until every perpetrator is brought here, to justice. I call on all residents of Banjaluka, the Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the diaspora and the world to come in front of the Banjaluka Police Station,” Davor Dragicevic said.
The 21-year-old David Dragicevic was found dead in Banjaluka, in March this year, in what was first described as an accidental death.
The young man’s family claims that it is impossible that David’s death was “accidental” as was said during the first press conference on this case. Due to the public disturbance and constant protests caused by the case, the National Assembly of the RS formed a Board of Inquiry with the aim of identifying the relevant circumstances of this young man’s death. After the Board concluded that there were elements for the suspicion that he could have been killed, the ruling coalition of delegates rejected the Board’s report saying that only by the competent prosecutor’s office can qualify the case.
The District Prosecutor's Office of Banjaluka then submitted an order to conduct an investigation into the murder of Dragicevic against several unknown persons, and according to the details of the order, David Dragicevic “either ran away from the perpetrators and fell down the steep banks of the River Crkvena from a height of around 4.5 meters, or the perpetrators pushed him into the river from the banks when he drowned shortly after hitting the water.”
Davor Dragicevic reiterated the names of the people he claims are responsible for the death of his son. As the number of Banjaluka citizens grew around the police station, so did the number of police officers.
Speaking to N1, Davor Dragicevic said he will not leave the police station until the circumstances of his son’s death are resolved. He confirmed that an unknown man approached him and threatened him.
“He waved his finger at me and openly threatened me. We have it all on tape. Had we not reacted, the police wouldn’t lift a finger. I don’t know if they apprehended him, they probably did,” Dragicevic told N1.
He added that his son was allegedly killed by the police.
“I’ve come here and I’m not leaving. They are preparing special police forces. Should the police even touch any of us, we will go at them. We were calm and dignified all this time, but enough is enough,” Dragicevic stressed. “The entire RS Interior Ministry knows what happened (to David). I’m not leaving until the RS President comes here.”
According to N1’s reporter from Banjaluka, northern Bosnia, during the gathering of citizens at the Krajina Square, an unknown man approached Davor Dragicavic trying to provoke him, after which the “Justice for David” group members came to the Banjaluka Police Station.
SRNA news news agency learned that the police apprehended Djordje Marinkovic from Brcko (northern Bosnia) after a verbal conflict with Davor Dragicevic.
The Police apprehended Marinkovic and he was brought in to the Banjaluka Police Station for questioning.
The RS police have yet to comment on the latest events in Banjaluka.
