The Justice for David protests are undoubtedly aimed at destabilising the Republika Srpska (RS) entity and the US Ambassador to Bosnia Maureen Cormack is directly involved in them, said the RS President Milorad Dodik.
“She was directly involved in creating this atmosphere whose aim was clearly to destabilise the RS,” Dodik said while visiting the town of Bijeljina, to the North-East of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The 21-year-old David Dragicevic was found dead in Banjaluka, in March this year, in what was first described as an accidental death.
The young man’s family claims that it is impossible that David’s death was “accidental” as was said during the first press conference on this case.
The “Justice for David” group gathered around the Banjaluka Police Station, Tuesday night, demanding that the perpetrators of David Dragicevic's alleged murder be brought to justice.
The RS President said that Cormack and her associates were in the RS on Tuesday and implied that her arrival took place just a day before Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s visit to the RS.
“People have the right to protest and as long as their protest is within the scope of the law and it doesn’t infringe on the liberties of others or hampers the work of institutions, it’s all part of a normal democratic society,” Dodik said. “We will comply with the law and we understand the tragedy, but this is a classic abuse of a tragedy”
According to him, the Tuesday protest was not directed against the RS Prosecution which has the obligation to deal with this issue, but instead, they protested against the police, which is on the other side of the town.
“Since they didn’t ask the prosecution to do its part then their intention is quite clear,” Dodik added.
