Bosnia's Central Election Commission (CEC) is passing decisions unanimously and their quality is confirmed at the higher-instance institutions, said outgoing CEC President Irena Hadziabdic.
Speaking for N1, Hadziabdic said the Commission managed to go through all temptations and that “nobody loves” this institution.
“There is a completely unexplainable situation related to our work. That campaign was launched at the end of January only to make the institution that conducts the election weak and vulnerable. We prepared the election perfectly, and tried to eliminate all problems and mistakes,” she stressed.
“Everyone's trying to make the CEC lose the credibility. That is an attack of an individual and media. A general strike, of politics, media, public and voters, because the things that re said are taken for granted,” she added.
Recent media reports on irregularities on the list of voters for the upcoming October election in Bosnia exposed the Commission to a harsh criticism. While some reports warned of a number of dead persons still being included in the list, the others were pointing at a huge disbalance between the number of registered voters and citizens over 18 who had ID cards.
Hadziabdic denied the criticism saying that the criticism was ungrounded. According to her, the list of voters does not necessarily have to match the number of valid ID cards.
“The list is not created based only on the valid ID cards, there are some other criteria too,” she stressed.
According to her, over 400 irregularities have been reported with the commission regarding the misuse of the list of voters.
