British Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Matthew Field, told the Bosnian citizens to vote for the future of their country at the upcoming general election.

“On Sunday, October 7, Bosnian citizens will decide on the path their country will take in the next four years,” Field said in a video message speaking in Bosnian language. “As a diplomat, I won’t vote and I can’t tell you whom you should vote for. But if I were to vote, I’d ask myself what do I want for my children, parents and my country.”

He said he’d ask who has a plan, who would create more jobs, who would improve the quality of education and healthcare.

The British diplomat also stressed the UK’s role in the election process and recalled the role of the citizens.

“What the UK can do is to make sure the election is free and fair as much as possible. That’s why we helped the ‘Pod Lupom’ NGO in providing independent observers as well as heped provide translucent ballot boxes,” Field noted. “The rest is up to you. You decide by exiting the polls. Not voting means accepting the status quo. The election is decided by those who vote and decide on their destiny.”

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s general election will be held on October 7, when Bosnian citizens will cast their votes for the cantonal, entity and state level of government.
