High Representative calls on citizens to vote on Sunday

The High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina called on all Bosnian citizens to vote in the general election, on Sunday. He appealed on all citizens not to be intimidated and to vote according to their own beliefs.

“I appeal to every voter to use their democratic right and vote. Invest forty minutes of your time on Sunday for the sake of four years of your future,” Valentin Inzko said. “Do not allow yourself to be intimidated by divisive speech, harsh rhetoric and threats. By using your right to vote, you are the one deciding on your destiny and your future.”

He advised the voters to think of the issues preventing Bosnia from becoming a stable and prosperous country, adding that their vote can help make Bosnia a place worth staying in, not a place from which they and their children will be forced to leave.

Inzko called on all Bosnian citizens to carefully examine all the candidates and find those who deserve their vote and trust and who can deliver the results they need.

“Make your voice heard. Decide for yourself about your future. Otherwise, others will decide for you,” Inzko concluded. The High Representative’s role in Bosnia and Herzegovina is to oversee the civilian implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement that ended the war in Bosnia (1992-1995).

Bosnian general election will be held on Sunday, October 7 and the citizens will cast their vote for members of the state's tripartite presidency, entity presidents and vice presidents, as well as the members of the state, entity and cantonal parliaments.
