NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg, has said he fully supports the normalisation of Belgrade-Pristina relations and that continuation of the dialogue is important for the peace and stability in the region.
Stoltenberg told Serbia's daily newspaper Blic that the NATO would continue supporting all efforts leading to the normalisation of security situation and calming of tensions in the region, “because people of this region deserve a better future as a part of the Euro-Atlantic community.”
The NATO counts on both sides and their demonstrating of dedication and restraint, he added.
“It is still necessary to improve the security situation in Kosovo, but local forces including the Kosovo police are making a good progress. We have seen some progress in the ability of local institutions to take responsibility for the law and order,” the NATO official said.
Stoltenberg arrived in Belgrade on Saturday for an official visit, and he was welcomed at the Belgrade airport by Serbia's Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin.
