The spokesperson for the ruling Bosnian Serb party that won most of the votes in the Serb part of Bosnia at the October 7 election dismissed claims made by the opposition that his party won thanks to election fraud.

The Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), whose leader Milorad Dodik won enough votes to enter Bosnia’s three-member presidency, had no reason to steal as its election results are a consequence of continuous work of the party, said Radovan Kovacevic.

Zeljka Cvijanovic, the SNSD candidate for the post of the President of the Bosnian Serb semi-autonomous region of Republika Srpska (RS) also won but supporters of opposition parties doubt the election process was fair and stated they consider Vukota Govedarica of the Serb Democratic Party (SDS) their real president.

“Vukota Govedarica can claim he is the president as much as he can claim he is Napoleon Bonaparte or Superman,” Kovacevic said.

"Up until the election we all knew that mister Govedarica was not a serious candidate for the president of the Republika (Srpska), but now we know he is not a even a serious man,” he said.

He called on the opposition to start being a corrective instead of a destructive factor.

“The citizens of Republika Srpska have judged their negative campaign and they don’t want it to continue in any way,” he said, commenting the opposition’s election results.

“This was a message to them. They voted for us and absolutely against them,” Kovacevic told the Bosnian Serb news agency SRNA.
