Tatjana Savic, Trifkovic's legal representative, said her client was the subject of the prohibitory injunction of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the moment of the crime and that the police found him at his home that morning.

“The police were here the whole day. He was apprehended to the Pale police precinct and the next day to the cantonal Interior Ministry. That's where he asked to take a polygraph and he passed. He was released. A day later he was again apprehended to the cantonal Ministry of Interior. That's when detention was ordered for him,” Savic explained for N1 and announced filing the appeal to the court decision.

Police officers Adis Sehovic and Davor Vujinovic were killed in a shooting in the Sarajevo's Alipasino neighbourhood last Friday in a car theft. Sehovic immediately died and Vujinovic succumbed to severe injuries he suffered in the shooting a few hours later.

Trifkovic was first arrested in 2011 in a police operation combatting the car theft in the country. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a year and eight months in prison.

He was sentenced again in March this year also for the car theft charges. A competent court ordered one-month detention but he was released pending trial.
