Following the murder of two policemen in Sarajevo, it is safe to say that the security situation was undermined and all the police and state agencies are doing everything to make the citizens feel safe, said the Interior Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) entity Aljosa Campara.
“There are no new details about the investigation itself. I think we should focus on the information announced earlier by the Cantonal Prosecution, not some speculations which could lead to problems in the investigation itself,” Campara said. “It’s best if we let the Prosecution and the police to inform the public of the investigation.”

Two policemen of the Sarajevo Canton Interior Ministry Adis Sehovic and Davor Vujinovic were shot in the line of duty, last Friday while working on a car theft case in Sarajevo’s Alipasino neighbourhood. Unknown perpetrator(s) had shot the police officers with a long barrel gun after being discovered.
According to the Minister, the problem is that trials last for too long.
“Police agencies are doing a good job, they send their reports and then these cases are sitting in the Prosecution for too long. As soon as you have such a situation, the suspected criminals find themselves at large and so there is a chance that they might commit new crimes,” Campara noted. “I think that’s the basic problem we’re facing but there’s also the issue of cooperation between different police agencies.”
“We’re a country with 14 different police agencies. This hinders the work of police officers. We have to respect the Constitution and the laws of this country. The Security Ministry has no operative ties to the work of police agencies. That’s the basic problem which we overlook too easily,” the Minister concluded.
