Dutch authorities will continue assisting the process of destruction of unstable ammunition in Bosnia and Herzegovina, this year with an additional amount of USD 245,000, the news agencies reported.
The agreement on allocation of the said amount for EXPLODE+ (Explosive Ordnance and Remnants of War Destruction) project will be signed on Monday by Dutch Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Reinout Vos, and Sezin Sinanoglu, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in presence of Assistant Minister of Defence, Borislav Jezeraskic.
The signing of the agreement will mark the fourth year that the Kingdom of the Netherlands is contributing to the destruction of unstable ammunition in Bosnia.
Unstable ammunition poses a security threat to citizens and communities across the country, and its destruction is carried out through various projects, primarily within the European Union-funded Assistance to Stockpile Management, Technical Support, and Ammunition Surplus Reduction – EU STAR, which officially commenced in 2017. The project is implemented by the UNDP in partnership with Bosnia's Defence Ministry.
The EXPLODE+ project is another major project for the surplus ammunition destruction and is co-financed by the governments of Germany, the Netherlands and Norway.
