The Republika Srpska (RS) entity’s Coordination Body for monitoring of the migrant situation in that entity discussed the formation of the RS 'National Security Agency,' said Milorad Dodik, the outgoing RS President.
Dodik noted the RS government tried to protect the RS’ vital interests
“The government’s migration measures were good. We wanted to protect the citizens’ and the RS’ vital interests,” Dodik said.
He added they discussed the possibility of forming the RS ‘National Security Agency’ because they “weren’t satisfied with the work of the State Intelligence and Security Agency (OSA).”
“We ask the (State) institutions to implement a zero asylum policy and not to grant asylum to anyone until the regulations are amended,” he concluded.
The RS has no accommodation capacities nor is it ready to accept any migrants, said the RS Prime Minister Zeljka Cvijanovic, who also attended the meeting.
“We must enable the humane transport of migrants from the territory of the RS,” she noted adding that the State level “did not deal with this issue correctly.”
According to her, the local population would not feel safe if several thousand migrants were to enter their town.
“We defined a set of conclusions for the RS government to discuss and the most important conclusion is that migrants should be transported from the RS into the other entity that already formed its migrant centres,” Cvijanovic concluded.
Bosnia and Herzegovina consists of two entities, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) and the RS. The FBiH entity is currently battling the migrant issue with two of its northwestern towns of Bihac and Velika Kladusa being hit the hardest because they are the closest to the border with Croatia. The migrants’ ultimate goal is reaching the western EU.
