The international attorney team in the Dragicevic case is no more, said Dusko Tomic, the Head of the attorney team in the David Dragicevic case told N1’s Andjelka Markovic.

“I’m no longer the Head of the attorney team in this case because our positions on the case are too different,” Tomic said.

Earlier this year, the police of the Republika Srpska entity, one of Bosnia’s two semi-autonomous entities, found a dead body of a 21-year old David Dragicevic. The young man’s family has always claimed that it is impossible that David’s death was “accidental” as was said during the first press conference on this case.

Due to the public disturbance and constant protests caused by the case, the National Assembly of the RS formed a Board of Inquiry with the aim of identifying the relevant circumstances of this young man's death.

After the Board concluded that there were elements for the suspicion that he could have been killed, the ruling coalition of delegates rejected the Board’s report saying that only by the competent prosecutor's office can qualify the case.

The District Prosecutor's Office of Banjaluka submitted, in early July, an order to conduct an investigation into the murder of David Dragicevic against several unknown persons, and according to the details of the order, David Dragicevic “either ran away from the perpetrators and fell down the steep banks of the River Crkvena from a height of around 4.5 meters or, the perpetrators pushed him into the river from the banks when he drowned shortly after hitting the water.”

After months of little to no progress in the case, an international team of attorneys consisting of Zora Dobricanin-Nikodinovic, Dusko Tomic, Ifet Feraget and Anto Nobilo was formed. This Friday, they held a meeting in the District Prosecutor’s Office in Banja Luka.

David’s father, Davor Dragicevic told N1 he was not told of the team’s arrival and said that if there is no progress in the case soon, “he will thank them for their non-cooperation” and continue his legal battle with just one attorney.

“I knew the meeting would be held, but I wasn’t told when. I found out about it through my sources in the Prosecution,” Dragicevic said. “I think the team should defend David and Davor’s interests, not the interests of the Prosecution or the State.”
