EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini called on Bosnian authorities to form the government after the October general election, as soon as possible.

EU’s foreign ministers discussed the post-election situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the request of Croatian officials. This meeting was chaired by EU’s Federica Mogherini.

“The meeting participants agreed on three messages to Bosnia: The government must be formed as soon as possible; Bosnia should completely focus on the Reform Agenda which is directly linked to Bosnia’s EU integration process; Bosnia should focus on the reform of its Election Law,” Mogherini said, adding that a new discussion on Bosnia will be held during December.

“All the ministers agree that we should work intensively with all Bosnian political leaders and that we will return to the issue of Bosnia and Herzegovina during the EU’s Foreign Affairs Council meeting in December,” she noted.

After the October general election, Croatian officials started complaining that the rights Bosnian Croats were threatened and violated.

The Democratic Front’s (DF) candidate Zeljko Komsic won over his candidate from the Croat Democratic Union's (HDZ BiH) Dragan Covic in a race for the Croat member of Bosnia's Presidency.

All the major Croat parties in Bosnia claim that Left-oriented Zeljko Komsic is not the legitimate Croat representative because he was allegedly elected by Bosniaks and that Covic won the most Croat votes.
