Bosnia is currently at a crossroads between the political system established by the 1995 Dayton Peace Agreement and its European path, but its priority should lean toward the latter, the Head of the Paneuropean Union in Bosnia, Osman Topcagic, told N1 on Tuesday.
The European Union is expecting Bosnia to implement social and economic reforms, but the current setup can only be changed through an agreement and not by “decree,” he said.
The good thing is that despite all the problems the EU is facing, Bosnia caught the attention of EU foreign ministers, so it is not only bureaucrats who are dealing with the country.
“We have to realise that big changes need time and the question is what we will be doing in the meantime,” Topcagic said, immediately offering an answer.
“That’s where the European path comes in,” he said.
