Kosovo’s Government must immediately withdraw its decision on “provocative and offensive” import taxes on good from Serbia and Bosnia, Maja Kocijancic, the spokesperson for the European Union diplomacy chief Federica Mogherini has said on Tuesday, the Srna news agency reported.
She added the EU was clear from the beginning that the 100 percent import tariffs were a violation of both CEFTA and the Stabilisation and Association Agreement.
“The Kosovo authorities must immediately withdraw this measure. All actions, measures and statements, provocative and offensive are deeply upsetting and do not contribute to the dialogue on normalisation of relations,” (between Belgrade and Pristina), Kocijancic said.
Pristina introduced ten percent import taxes on goods from Serbia and Bosnia first, and then several days later raised it to 100 percent.
Kosovo Serbs staged protests over the decision, while both Belgarde and Sarajevo said they would not retaliate.
Kocijancic added all complaints from either side should be solved in the dialogue.
