The Society of Vojvodina (Serbia's northern region) Journalists granted the Golden Pen award to their colleague who wrote books about the Bosnian Serb military commander and a convicted war criminal, and had openly denied the Srebrenica genocide, N1 Serbia reported.

The Hague war crime tribunal sentenced Bosnian Serb forces’ general Ratko Mladic to life imprisonment for war crimes during the 1992-1995 armed conflict and the Srebrenica genocide in Bosnia in the first instance. He appealed the verdict.

Ljiljana Bulatovic-Medic known for the books titled “Rapport to the Commander” and “Srebrenica – a lie and a hoax to Serbian people” and the denial of other war crimes, received the award under the “truth, honesty, tradition” slogan.

Vojvodina’s Secretary of Culture and Information presented the reward to Bulatovic-Medic and saw nothing disputable in awarding her.

“High professional credibility of the Society of Vojvodina Journalists and the journalistic work of the laureate coincided in this year's ‘Golden Pen’ award,” Draga Milosevic said.

However, the Independent Society of Vojvodina Journalists (NDNV) had quite the opposite opinion about the laureate.

“Ljiljana Bulatovic Medic is surely among the first five war and postwar mongers, and this award is horrifying,” Dinko Gruhonjic from the NDNV said.
