Students in Bosnia’s Serb-majority region will be provided with the option to learn the Chinese language in schools, the Government of Republika Srpska said on Thursday.

The Education Minister of Republika Srpska (RS), the Serb-dominated semi-autonomous entity in Bosnia, will soon sign an agreement with the Confucius Institute in the Chinese town of Hanban, which will secure Chinese language teachers.

The RS Ministry put together a list of schools where children have shown an interest in learning the language.

Schools in Novo Sarajevo, Doboj, Banja Luka, Samac and Foca will soon introduce the option.
