Bosnian capital Sarajevo was the most polluted city in the world on Sunday afternoon, according to the measurements of an air monitoring system installed at the US Embassy’s building in this city.
“Air Quality Index values over 300 trigger health warnings of emergency conditions. The entire population is even more likely to be affected by serious health effects,” said the Environmental Protection Agency, whose website publishes the results that the monitoring system collects in the cities across the world.
Air Quality Index in Sarajevo at 2 p.m. on Sunday was 268, which made it the most polluted city of the world at that moment beating even Beijing, China, which is known for its worst air pollution worldwide.
Results of the US monitoring of Sarajevo’s air pollution levels can be seen at the official website of the Environmental Protection Agency's Air Now and on a twitter profile.
