Bosnian Croat Presidency member Zeljko Komsic met with Serbian Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Aleksandar Djordjevic to talk about unresolved issues between the two states such as the border issue and unused hydro potentials.
The two concluded that the border issue should be resolved by experts in the field and that the two states should improve their cooperation through honest and friendly dialogue.
Komsic told Djurdjevic he understands the difficulties in reaching a consensus in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, but that the final agreement must not affect Bosnia.
This was the second meeting between the Serbian Ambassador and one of three Bosnian Presidency members. The first meeting was held right the newly elected Serb Presidency Chairman Milorad Dodik took office, after the October general election, when he received Ambassador Djordjevic’s credentials.
During the meeting, Dodik displayed the flag of the Serb-dominated Republika Srpska (RS) entity next to the flag of Bosnia, which was against the State Law on Flag. The RS flag was removed after the meeting, but Dodik said he would place the flag wherever and whenever he wants.
Komsic and Djurdjevic concluded that trade exchange must be increased for the benefit of both countries and that economy should have an essential role in the relations between the two states.
Bosnia and Herzegovina, consisting of two semi-autonomous entities, the Bosniak-Croat dominated Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) entity and the RS, has a tripartite Presidency, consisting of members coming from the three constituent peoples in the country – Bosniaks, Croats and Serbs.
The Serb member is elected in the RS whereas the Bosniak and Croat members are elected in the FBiH.
