Locals and visitors to Bosnia’s capital will on Thursday evening have the opportunity to watch young regional artists tell their stories about what it is like to live in the Balkans through dance.

The Balkan Dance Project (BDP) Volume 3, a show made of three parts, will start at 8 pm at the Sarajevo War Theatre (SARTR) and was put together by choreographers Aleksandar Ilic from Serbia, Igor Kirov from Macedonia and Ivana Hadzihasanovic from Bosnia.

The Balkan Dance Project (BDP) is an international dance platform bringing together young, successful and promising choreographers, dancers and other artists from Balkan region.

The performance connects countries which share a unique cultural identity and sends its messages through the universal language of dance, music and theatre, BDP member and ballerina Zulejha Keco told N1.

“This platform promotes modern dance, which is unfortunately not very present in the region,” Keco said.

The dancers “through individual stories explore the joint experience of living in the Balkans,” she said, adding that the team and choreographers have been spending up to ten hours a day practising for the show.

“Everyone will be able to find something particular they like within the three performances,” she said.
