Several opposition politicians were apprehended on Tuesday in the north-western Bosnian city of Banja Luka while they were expressing support to Davor Dragicevic, the father of a tragically deceased young man.

Republika Srpska entity police apprehended Branislav Borenovic, the leader of the Party of Democratic Progress (PDP), a PDP MP Drasko Stanivukovic, Vojin Mijatovic of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and former opposition MP Adam Sukalo.

Vukota Govedarica, the leader of the opposition Serb Democratic Party (SDS), assessed the police action as “institutional violence.”

Earlier on Tuesday police arrested the father Davor Dragicevic for posing “a threat to security.” Dragicevic was leading a group which protested on December 17 in front of Banja Luka based institutions during a session when Republika Srpska entity institutions were appointed. Since mid-March a group gathered around Dragicevic has been protesting in central Banja Luka, demanding from competent institutions to shed light on the death of the young man.

Reportedly, the police tried to summon Davor Dragicevic on Monday but with no success.

“Arrest of David Dragicevic's parents and the violence the police is conducting today against ‘Justice for David’ group is an act of institutional violence over the persons who only seek the truth and justice,” said Govedarica who urged the authorities to arrest the perpetrators in David Dragicevic's case instead.

Along with Dragicevic and the opposition politicians, the police also apprehended Dragicevic's ex-wife Suzana Radanovic as well as several more activists of ‘Justice for David’ group, who have been demanding for months that death of David Dragicevic is resolved.
