Serbia’s President and Internal Affairs Minister both denied claims of Serbian police being present in Banja Luka during Tuesday’s incidents.

Police and protesters clashed on a central square in the north-western city of Banja Luka during and after the arrest of Davor Dragicevic who has been protesting on the square, demanding to know the circumstances surrounding the death of his son David. A memorial to David was also removed from the square amid a strong police presence. David’s mother earlier said there were indications that Serbian police personnel were present in Banja Luka during the protest.

“We do not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries, or entities, we do not interfere in the internal affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, even less the Republika Srpska,” Vucic told reporters on Wednesday, adding that this was a case of arrogance and ruthlessness of certain politicians.  

Earlier, Serbian Internal Affairs Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic denied claims that Serbian police personnel were present during the protest in Banja Luka or anywhere else in the Republika Srpska, Bosnia's Serb-dominated part.

“I want to say that everyone who claims that Serbian police personnel were present at the demonstrations in Banja Luka is a liar,” Stefanovic said.
