Presidency member after Brussels meetings: We have to seize the opportunity

The ball is now in our court and this opportunity has to be seized, Bosnia Presidency member Zeljko Komsic said on the second day of the Presidency’s official visit to Brussels where they met senior European Union’s (EU) officials.

Speaking for N1 from the seat of the EU institutions, Komsic said he was satisfied with the visit and the meetings they held with the top officials representing the Union, who expressed their full support to Bosnia’s EU road.

According to him, it will not be easy for Bosnia to achieve its goal towards the status of EU candidate country during this year. The country has to do a lot to get there and one of the obligations include the changes to electoral legislation.

“European Council President Donald Tusk said something that matters and that’s what kind of impression Bosnia and Herzegovina is leaving, is it really committed to the European Union,” Komsic told N1’s reporter in Brussels.

Although the Brexit is now a top priority for the EU, Komsic said, they found a way to make Bosnia one of the top issues.

“It is up to us now. The ball is now in our court and we have to seize it,” added Komsic.

The Presidency member, representing Bosnian Croats in that institution, noted that disagreement of the tripartite Presidency on NATO integration is something that three of them must solve alone.

He assessed as “fair” the atmosphere in the state Presidency.
